Growth Groups

“The person who loves their dream of community will destroy community, but the person who loves those around them will create community.”
― Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together

Philosophy

LAC Growth Groups are our in-house discipleship groups. Growth Groups are designed to cover a wide range of training in practical, personal & public areas of our lives. Growth Groups can be “multi-generational” or gender/age specific depending on the target group. The goal is to “teach them to obey all that I have commanded you” – Matt. 28:20.

Details

Community is the lifeblood of our church. It’s where we learn to take the practical truth we learn from studying the Bible and apply them to everyday life. It’s where we learn to pray for one another, celebrate with one another, grieve with one another and carry one another’s burdens.

  • We aim to keep Growth Groups sizes between 8-14 people, which means new groups are often needed to accommodate growth.
  • We have the occasional all church study, but most of the time the content and format is determined by the leader.
  • Many growth groups meet on Wednesday night to coincide with the youth program. But we also have Sunday groups and are open to other days.
  • Groups are hosted in homes all over Tyler and the surrounding area.

Leadership

Growth Group leaders are shepherded and lead by the elders of the church, with quarterly meetings where they encourage one another and share best practices.
